0844 and 0845 Numbers
What is 0844?

(As at 1st October 2008 calls to 0844 numbers can not be made from outside the UK - but this is expected to change - watch this space!)
What is 0845?
0845 Calls to these numbers cost 6p, plus up to 2 pence per minute from a BT Together landline. Mobile and other providers' charges may vary.
What is the difference between 0844 and 0845?
With 0844 the cost to the caller is fixed at 5ppm at all times and we can provide call routing facilities at no additional cost and with larger call volumes we can make a small outpayment to you - please contact us for details (Click here to learn more about call routing facilities)
With 0845 the cost
is likely to change as a result of OfCom introducing changed regulation. For this reason 0844 is currently a better option as it's future is more certain. In any event there is no option for an outpayment on 0845 numbers.
Why should we use an 0844 or 0845 number?
There are several benefits to using these numbers which include:
- The number is "non-geographic" which means that there is no actual location associated with the number.
- The number to which calls are delivered can be moved from one location to another without a change in the number that is dialled. This means that a change in office location does not involve a change in telephone number.
- It is possible to select your 0844 number which means that you may be able to choose a number which customers can easily recognise and remember.
- Details of all calls made to your number are available to you through your personal log-in at the Customer Service Centre on our website. Here you will see details of all calls, including failed calls - with a reason, showing caller's number, time, date and duration. This information is updated every working day and there is no charge for this facility.
How do you obtain an 0844 or 0845 number and what do they cost?
Numbers are connected FREE.
How do 0844 and 0845 numbers work?
Calls made to 0844 numbers have the destination "translated" in the telephone network to an ordinary telephone number where the calls are delivered and answered. Sovereign Telecom can provide additional facilities on 0844 numbers, such as Voice to email messaging. Click Here for call routing facilities or contact us for more details
